Svetoslav Minkov

Svetoslav Minkov (1902–1966) was an extremely erudite fiction writer and translator, one of the brightest figures in post-war Bulgarian modernism. Defined as a "narrator of modern times" and "father of native science fiction", he had created works that are at the forefront of Bulgarian urban prose. A master of fantastic stories, grotesque, and sophisticated satire, Svetoslav Minkov was among the first Bulgarian writers to sense the threat to modern man from the excessive mechanization and standardization of the modern world. His works - universal and cosmopolitan, have been translated into over 15 languages.
