To Betray Levski
Who is Vasil Levski's traitor? This question, which aroused long-standing polemics, continues to worry our historical memory even today.
In this book the author's investigations into the truth about both the physical and the ideological traitors of the Apostle of Freedom are presented. Through an analysis of the available evidence, of the events that took place in the distant 1872, and of Levski's personal relationships, an attempt was made for a different reading of the facts known so far; bold hypotheses were expressed about the conflicts in the Lovchan Revolutionary Committee, the "scheme" of betrayal, the defeat of the Internal Revolutionary Organization.
A provocative and intriguing study, "To Betray Levski" is logically included in the debate about the historical fate of our national heroes.
