Carthage was a great economic, political, and cultural power from the 8th to the 2nd century BCE. Its history unfolded amid conflict and interaction, first with the Greeks and later with the Romans, leading to its dominance over the entire Mediterranean between the 6th and 3rd centuries BCE. Through this book, we learn about the Carthaginians, their origins and history, their political and social organization, as well as their culture, arts, and literature. We also learn the basics about the organization of the city-state: its politics, society, trade, and economy.
Hédi Dridi
Hedi Dridi is a Franco-Tunisian historian and archaeologist born in Tunis (1966). He is a professor of Ancient Mediterranean archaeology at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), where he heads the Department of Mediterranean Archaeology and serves as Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ancient Studies.
Hedi Dridi has participated in archaeological research and excavations in various countries, including Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco.
