Emilia and Bruno meet in Sassaya, a small village nestled in the Biella mountains. In this God-forgotten corner of the world, they realize that they have lost everything - although for very different reasons - and that Sassaya is a place of escape for them, two people who have stopped believing in their future. Silvia Avallone
Silvia Avallone was born in Biella in 1984 and lives in Bologna. She has written a collection of poetry, Il libro dei vent’anni, and five novels: Acciaio (which won the Premio Campiello Opera Prima and was the runner up for the Premio Strega 2010), Marina Bellezza, Da dove la vita è perfetta, Un’amicizia and Cuore nero.
Under the same name, Acciaio has been adapted into a film (starring Michele Riondino and Vittoria Puccini), a play and a song (on the album Made in London by Noemi). Avallone writes for “Corriere della Sera”, “La Lettura” and “7”. Her books have been translated in 25 countries.
