The proverbs and sayings are precious for the Bulgarian folklore’s heritage. Unlike the most genres of folk art, they are still a living part of the Bulgarian language. Even more, they are being enriched with new texts, created in the contemporary social and cultural conditions. This new collection includes more than 6 000 Bulgarian proverbs and sayings from the whole country, selected out of respected publications by P. R. Slaveykov, Nayden Gerov, etc.
Prof. Stephana Stoikova is a researcher of the Bulgarian folklore and popular culture, an author of numerous scholarly and popular publications and collections of authentic folklore recordings.
Prof. Stoikova has been awarded with the international "Johann Gottfried Herder" prize.
