Envy And Gratitude And Other Works 1946-1963

"Envy and Gratitude and Other Works 1946-1963" is a perfect introduction to Melanie Klein’s modern neuroscientific research.

Melanie Klein's writings, particularly on infant development and psychosis, have been crucial both to theoretical work and to clinical practice. "Envy and Gratitude" collects her writings from 1946 until her death in 1960, including two papers published posthumously.

The book you are holding in your hands is the first Bulgarian translation of "Envy and Gratitude" by Melanie Klein. The publication of her most important articles in Bulgarian is the result of the long-term cooperation of the initiator of the project, Dr. Svetlozar Vassilev, with the Melanie Klein Trust. It is intended as a supplement to the collection "Contemporary Kleinian Psychoanalysis", which presents the contributions of leading experts from Europe and Great Britain in this field. The editor, the translator and the publishing house of this edition deserve special praise for the effort to make it reach the wide Bulgarian audience.

Dr. Eileen McGinley, Training and Supervising Analyst, British Psychoanalytical Society

About the Author
Melanie Klein

Melanie Klein (30 March 1882 – 22 September 1960) was an Austrian-British author and psychoanalyst known for her work in child analysis. She was the primary figure in the development of object relations theory. Klein suggested that pre-verbal existential anxiety in infancy catalyzed the formation of the unconscious, which resulted in the unconscious splitting of the world into good and bad idealizations. In her theory, how the child resolves that split depends on the constitution of the child and the character of nurturing the child experiences. The quality of resolution can inform the presence, absence, and/or type of distresses a person experiences later in life.

The collection "Envy and Gratitude" contains Klein's most significant research on the inner world in normality and pathology and will be of considerable benefit to a wide range of readers - parents, doctors, psychologists, psychotherapists, as well as to anyone curious about the world of the unconscious.
