Libreto

Spain's labor protests and Catalonia's struggles for independence. Damir Romić, a migrant from Bosnia and Herzegovina, works as a security guard at a cigarette factory. He is in love with the mysteriously missing Maria, with the Babylonian goddess Ishtar and with Mozart. He dreams of writing the libretto for an opera and lives in the libretto of The Magic Flute. Machito is his colleague and friend, a dancer and gay, a pure and naive soul. The Evil Major is his superior and the embodiment of evil. While working, loving and dreaming, Damir keeps asking himself who I am, what I am like, where I came from and what awaits me.

"Libreto" is a fantasy novel, a parody novel, a novel about a man in search of his identity. Written in metaphorical language, full of references and with sometimes obscure stylistic images, a strange combination of confessional reading and prose poetry, it is a challenge for the reader and a delight for the lover of the complex ways of literature.
