"The Return of Bassat" is not a novel in the artistic sense. This book is rather a chronicle of the origins and migrations of a Sephardic family, since the historical expulsion of Jews from Spain in 1492 until today. In the story about the history of Bassat family whose roots are shared between Spain, Bulgaria, Greece (also Turkey, Italy, Austria ...), the author Vicenç Villatoro combines facts and testimonies from real life with reflections on the cultural heritage of the European continent, inextricably linked to the diaspora of Jews.
