Ramon del Valle-Inclan (1866 – 1936) was a Spanish novelist, playwright, poet and an eminent member of the Spanish Generation of '98.
An eccentric who cultivated bizarre legends about himself, Ramon del Valle-Inclan published a collection of sensational, erotic tales, "Femeninas" (1895). He also used himself as the model for the old libertine hero of his "Sonatas" (1902-1905).
His early writings were in line with French symbolism and modernism and his later evolution took his works to most radical formal experiments.
