Marin Georgiev was born in 1946 in the village of Bivolare. He worked as an editor at Radio Varna and a journalist for various Bulgarian newspapers. Since 1992, he has been the director of the "Literary Forum" and the publishing house of the same name. He is the author of over 20 books (two of them published in Hungary) of poetry, prose, literary criticism and translations.
Georgiev is the winner of the high state honor of Hungary "Pro Kultura Hungarika" (2001), the Order of the President of Hungary (2016), the International Literary Award "Balint Balassi Memorial Sword" (2018) and others. He is the first winner of the "Theodor Trayanov" Award (together with Valery Stankov) (2012).
