Conspiracy and adventure at Milan Central Station, from where the trains of deported Jews left during World War II.

Milan, April 2003. Riccardo Mezzanotte is a young police inspector, who recently joined the Railway Police at Milan Central Station. He has an innate tendency to get into trouble, and begins investigating a case that does not seem to arouse anybody else’s interest: someone has been scattering horribly mutilated animal remains all over the station.

Laura Cordero is a twenty-year-old beautiful woman from a good family; but, she is harboring a secret. She usually calls it “the gift” but considers it more a curse, which she cannot speak of. Laura volunteers at a care center for marginalized people inside the Central Station and has a mystery to solve: she is trying to find two children she saw wandering around the station at dusk several times, alone.

The Station is both a thriller and an adventure novel, a combination of the two most popular genres in literature, in which Jacopo de Michelis moves with absolute freedom, opening and closing doors and passageways, and building a story that carries the reader all the way to the end without a moment’s rest.
