The Next Day
Amanda has lost her husband and the child she was expecting. Isolated in a secluded house in the countryside, she lives with the shutters down and without contact with the outside world, unable to overcome her grief from her misfortune. There she comes across calendars and notebooks in which the former owner shared her gardening experiences. While reading them, Amanda decides to breathe life back into the abandoned garden. Over time, she comes into contact with the flowers, vegetables, trees, and the earth, from which she draws the strength she needs to return to life herself and look to tomorrow.
“The Next Day” is not a tragic novel, nor is it a feel-good novel, but a work filled with emotion and hope, a hymn to life-giving nature, to the power that may be hidden within each of us.
