David is tasked by the secret service to contact Eva and find out from her what her recently deceased uncle, the eminent sociologist Robert Solo, has been working on. But Eva refuses to be manipulated, and David begins to ask questions about his own life, his profession, his future. The novel - both a technological dystopia and a psychological thriller - evokes thoughts about choice, freedom, our over-reliance on high technology and the world we would like to live in.
