Sam, a journalist, interviews an iconic old singer, Sybille. She decides to exclusively tell him about her experience with an Egyptian hypnotizer, Oscar, belonging to a secret fraternity, who has introduced her to an ancient theory, according to which there only are nine patterns of personality each individual can fit in. With Oscar, she tests all the nine personalities, experiencing their effects on her professional and private life, as she intends to find the most adapted to her, though finally acknowledging they all have flaws and qualities.
