Characteristics

A young American woman with a tragic past arrives in a country that, although it looks like various places in Central America, is fictional. So are the crumbling lakeside hotel she begins to care for, and the volcano looming over the village, and all the natives and wandering souls who have found a brief or long refuge there, and the magic herb, and the fireflies that appear only once a year and for one night only. But the affection and emotions of the characters, who have found hope and joy amid secrets and shared pain over four decades, are completely genuine and real. At the heart of The Bird Hotel is mystery, warmth, drama, romance, humor, pop culture, and magical realism.

Immerse yourself in history in a place that is like a dream, like water and like breathable warm earth.

Everyone I've ever met here has been on some kind of mission. People haven't always found what they were looking for. But they usually found what they needed.
