For the child, the world is both reality and nature at the same time. Children don't make an aesthetic difference between the fag and the rose. They delight, taste and tear both with pleasure. Unbiased, with great efforts and noisy joy, they explore the world tirelessly, with precision and passion. So it's a shame when we train them with "adapted" substitutes, and not with the beauty of the reality that attracts them and arouses their imagination.
The letters are magic characters because their connectivity creates worlds - multilayered and three-dimensional. At the same time they are basic building blocks like the prosy objects around us. We need letters to reconstruct these subtle vibrations of matter. I would like to convey the sound wave that the paper does not conduct, through the thin stroke of the pencil and the clear clarity of the image. With respect for literacy, children and parents.
Irina Karakhehayova
Irina Karakhehayova was born in Sofia in 1975. She is the author and artist of the books "The Tribe of Mothers" (2009), "The Food of the Tribe" (2010), "Home Ecology" (2011), "City as a City" (2013) in the series "Tribes" (ed. Format. bg). She graduated in Scenography and Painting from New Bulgarian University, Sofia. The theme of her doctoral dissertation is "The Interaction between Verbal and Visual in the Contemporary English Graphic Novel."
