Silhouettes in Japan
Along the traditional streets of the old capital of Kyoto, a boy from Okinawa touches an eel and this divides his life into before and after. Amidst the lights of central Osaka, a young woman rediscovers herself, casting aside her dislike of kimonos. Far to the north, a parade of mythological figures colors the night of Aomori, Japan's snowiest city. And between the forests of Wakayama and the white sands of fireworks-filled Shirahama, a man finds something unclaimed...
These are just some of the characters in this collection of short stories describing the fragile line between reality and illusion. Beneath the veil of seemingly everyday life, the stories here will reveal a different, full-blooded Japan.
Alexander Dimitrov
Alexander Dimitrov was born in 1991. He graduated from Sofia University. He was awarded a distinction in the National Poetry Competition "Veselin Hanchev", 2013. In 2016 he went to Osaka, where he lived for six years.
He is interested in contemporary Japanese literature and manga, slightly heavier manifestations of Japanese music, and okonomiyaki. He is known online by the pseudonym Charlie Parker.
