David Toscana
David Toscana (b. 1961) is one of the most award-winning and widely translated contemporary Mexican novelists and a leading voice in Spanish-language prose. His books have been honored with prestigious awards such as the Javier Villaurutia Prize, which he received in 2017 for his novel Olegaroy, and the Mario Vargas Llosa Novel Prize, awarded to him in 2023 for The Weight of Living on Earth.
In 2026, his novel The Enlightened Army was selected for the Alfaguara Prize from among 1,140 manuscripts.
