In Assault, the novelist offers us two original characters. On the one hand is Epiphanes Otos, an ugly monster, but enlightened, fine and delicate. On the other is Ethel, a very clever young actress of incredible beauty. This is a story about the friendship between them.
As with all books by Amélie Nothomb, this also presents literary references (Notre Dame de Paris, for example), philosophical and artistic abound. The use of unusual vocabulary is an essential feature of the style of the novelist.
